Both a preservative and flavoring, citric acid is used in cooking and for DIY cleansers. Our bulk citric acid also helps prevent oxidation (browning) of cut fruit. Frontier Co-op’s citric acid is derived from a non-GMO corn source. Add citric acid to your dishwasher when washing glass, and you’ll have sparkling clear results.
When making cheese, citric acid is used to increase the acidity in milk and is called for in recipes such as mozzarella and ricotta. Before adding to milk, first dissolve citric acid in 1/4 cup cool, potable, non-chlorinated water, then add mixture to milk and stir in thoroughly.
